How to get a Search Engine’s attention
Take a look at the graphic below of the “Perfectly Optimized Page”. Is there any mistaking the fact that this web page is about donuts … specifically chocolate donuts? As the search engines review and index this page they are certainly going to recognize the fact that it’s about chocolate donuts and file it accordingly. When someone searches for chocolate donuts this page is going to have a good chance of coming up on page one.
Here’s why this page is going to rank high:
The keywords are used four times hidden in the code. The first is in the title tag, second is in the description. (These items were discussed in last month’s newsletter.) The third is the image file name and the fourth is the alt tag (an alt tag is the text you see when you hover over a graphic. Look for it next time you’re surfing. Check how well those pages are optimized now that you’re learning so much about SEO). There are eight more keywords in the text on the page: one in the headline and seven more in the body text. There are two other opportunities not used here: a caption under the photo and a hyperlink. This is a great example of how to make your page rank high.
